In a decisive move to address the escalating challenges faced by what was once a prideful area now marred by disorder and environmental concerns, the Lagos State Government took action on Friday by closing down Quilox Restaurant Bar Night Club situated in Victoria Island. The shutdown was attributed to noise pollution and various environmental infractions.
Yinka Olajoyetan reported that Officials from the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) executed the closure, sealing off the club premises promptly. Taking to Twitter, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated, “Quilox Club was earlier today sealed over noise pollution and other environmental infractions.”
LASEPA, via its official handle, emphasized that their commitment to fostering a conducive environment for all residents led to the closure. “Following continuous petitions and thorough assessment, LASEPA officials sealed off Quilox Night Life, situated in Victoria Island, due to significant environmental infractions.”
The statement continued, addressing multiple concerns, including severe traffic congestion in the vicinity and a blatant disregard for the agency’s directives. LASEPA underscored that Quilox Restaurant Bar Night Club had been found non-compliant with essential environmental regulations set by the agency. “We take our charge of preserving the environment very seriously and will continue to take decisive steps to rid Lagos of pollution,” concluded the agency.
