**Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, to immediately release the international passport of former Rivers State governor, Dr Peter Odili which was unlawfully seized from him in July this year. The judge held that the action of Immigration was not only unlawful but illegal, unconstitutional and ultra vires. Justice Ekwo in the judgment in a suit filed by Odili to challenge the seizure of the passport upheld the submission of his counsel, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe SAN that the Immigration and its Comptroller General lacked the constitutional powers to do what they did. The reason adduced by Immigration that Odili’s passport was impounded because he was on the watchlist of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to justify the passport seizure was rejected by the court on the ground that such use of power is not known to any law in the country. Justice Ekwo noted that the federal high court judgment of March 5, 2008 in which an order of perpetual injunction was granted against EFCC, prohibiting the anti-graft agency from investigating Odili on the activities of Rivers State government between 1999 and 2007 when he held sway as the executive governor. The Judge held that until the order is voided and set aside by a competent court of records, the order remains binding on EFCC, its operatives and agents. **Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Catholic Priest and Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, has accused the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of organizing the killing of Imo State residents. Mbaka said although he does not support terrorism, he stands against killing and labeling innocent youths of the country as ‘terrorists’. He opined that the recent jail break in Imo State could be God’s way of releasing his people from prison. Mbaka also wondered why the killing of a top commander of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, Ikonso Don was being celebrated. The Cleric further warned the leaders to kill poverty, unemployment and insecurity, because God is angry with them, adding that those advising Uzodinma have killed him while he is still alive. ”I can never support terrorism, neither will I allow you to brand our children terrorists when they are not. If some people broke the prison in Owerri, if you caught them, arrest, interrogate them, it may be possible that no human being broke into that prison, it may be jailbreak from God. ”It happened in Acts of Apostle chapters 5. There was no jailbreak and nobody was arrested. God can set the prisoners free. ”For people to go around and kill our young men without trying them is evil. I’m just warning our Governors. Nigerians are dying like rats and nobody cares; God is angry with leaders, from Buhari to the last. You have failed God.” Hope Uzodinma who came here and put his hand on this altar and swore he will protect the lives of Imolites is now organizing the killing of Imolites and he wants me to keep quiet? ”I was keeping quiet until the blood of my brother was shed. Never! Whoever will support that will suffer. How Is it difficult for the military, police and DSS to arrest one person? What if the person you killed is innocent of what he is accused of? “You killed Ikonso and you are parading his body as if you have done anything. Go and kill poverty, unemployment, insecurity, you know how to kill, wicked people. God’s anger is on. No prophet will be spared if you keep quiet about what is happening in the country. If the leaders do not stop what is going on, it will stop them.” He urged Nigerians to stop misquoting him because he is just a messenger of God and maintained that Buhari does not call him and he does not call Buhari. ”They said I was the one that prayed for Hope Uzodinma. Hope Uzodinma was like a vision that came to me, how am I involved in it? The message from God just passed through me, I don’t know his political story. Till today someone (Uzodinma) who became Governor has not come to give thanks to God here. I know If he is receiving advice from this sanctuary he will not be messing up. Those advising Uzodinma has killed him while he is still alive.” Mbaka also prayed that God will bless IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. According to him, it is not wrong for someone to have courage and say that his people are being maltreated. ”I want you to know that up till today, I don’t know who is Nnamdi Kanu, I have never seen him face to face but wherever he is may God bless him. It is not a bad thing if someone has risen up to shout that his brothers are suffering, May the lord bless his courage. ”What is happening in this country is heartbreaking, tears shedding, nerve-racking and mind-blowing. Can our security agent and leaders account for us, how many people have died under one week or month? Students being kidnapped from the university and there is a leadership. It is either they are involved in it or they should stop or what is happening will stop them. Buhari, Hope and those who want to fight me, remember there was a time God told me to support you people now God has told me to withdraw and prophesy against you,” he added.

In the viral footage, Gumi referred to bandits/terrorists as “our warriors in the forest”. Amid the ongoing outrage that has greeted the most recent comments made by controversial Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi regarding how the next president should treat bandits in the north, renowned political analyst, Rufai Oseni has come out to share his thoughts on the issue. Recall that a few days ago, a video showing the moment the Kaduna-based cleric urged northerners not to vote for any presidential candidate who intends to hunt down and kill bandits in the forests in the upcoming elections, surfaced online. In the viral footage, Gumi referred to bandits/terrorists as “our warriors in the forest”. Reacting to the comments during a telephone interview on Voice Of the People (VOP) FM on Tuesday morning, Rufai Oseni lampooned the country’s secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS) for not arresting the controversial Islamic Scholar. According to the renowned political analyst, Gumi’s statement was tantamount to inciting the public against the Nigerian state. He said; “I hold the record for being one of the first people and journalists in this country that challenged Gumi on air. I asked him “Mr. Gumi, you were a captain in the army, why are you sowing the seed of discord in Nigeria?” he used to have a free ride with journalists until I challenged him in that interview on air, and they all sat up. I hope the DSS is listening to this. Because we are so hypocritical in this country. Gumi has said this for three days now and the DSS has not responded. If it was you and I that said that, by the next minute, we would have been picked up. That is why I keep saying that it is righteousness that exalts a nation. You can’t have a country where someone will say such a thing, people will just look at it, and the state security authorities will not act. But they are so quick to charge Emefiele for terrorism. Do you see the irony of the country we live in? They were so quick to go to court at the back to say that Emefiele should be arrested for terrorism before the court said there was no strong evidence against him. But Gumi has said something now, and we are yet to hear a single word from the DSS.”

**Bombardments from the Nigerian military have killed some terrorist kingpins in the northeast region. The terrorists had converged at a location with motorcycles and bicycles when a military strike smoked them out. Both air and ground troops in the region have sustained their clearance operations in the enclaves of the terrorists in recent times. Following an airstrike conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai recently at Mantari in Gezuwa area of Bama Local Government Area of Borno state, several terrorists, including Khaids Abbah Tukur, Maimusari, Bakura Jega and others were eliminated. The information was received just as the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao arrived in Maiduguri earlier on Sunday, December 25, to celebrate the yuletide with frontline troops. The air strike was authorised after it was discovered that a Boko Haram terrorist commander, simply known as Ikirima, had stationed his fighters and gun trucks at Mantari village. Ikirima, alongside other terrorists from other locations, had converged at the place with motorcycles and bicycles, according to a statement sent to Legit.ng by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Nigerian Air Force spokesman. The statement noted. “Subsequently, the authorization for an air strike was given leading to the elimination of several of the terrorists and structures in the area. “After the first wave of air strikes, some surviving terrorists found their way back to the same location to evacuate the bodies of those neutralised in the air strike. “This thus provided an opportunity for a follow-up strike on the same location which has been confirmed very successful as over 100 terrorists were neutralised, with dozens said to be in critical condition. “There were also confirmed reports that ISWAP and Boko Haram elements had perfected plans to resume active hostilities in the wake of the yuletide and forthcoming general elections. “The timely intelligence received on their plans, especially their attempt to attack soft targets in Bama LGA thus helped in the successful air strikes which has reduced their will to regroup and attack innocent citizens. “There is no doubt that the progress and gains being made especially by the air and ground troops has greatly contained an upsurge of terrorists’ campaigns within the Northeast zone in recent times. “Both air and ground troops have however been cautioned on the need to remain focused on the end state.” Air Commodore Gabkwet said the COAS and CAS have both commended the efforts of the air and ground troops as well as other security agencies under Operation Hadin Kai for the tremendous achievements being recorded in the theatre. According to them, there has been a lot of improvement in the security situation in the region due to the ongoing operations. He stated that both Service Chiefs paid special tribute to those who have paid the supreme sacrifice in the fight against terrorism and insurgency while also praising the commitment and uncommon sacrifices of the troops

**Former Premier League star Jamie Redknapp has revealed his choice of the greatest footballer in the world, narrowing it down to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. To him, Messi winning the FIFA World Cup should not change the minds of those who believe that Portugal international Ronaldo is better. The former Liverpool star says Messi is the best. Many believe that winning the World Cup has separated Messi from Ronaldo, who is yet to win football’s most coveted trophy. Despite not winning the trophy, many still see the Portuguese as the greatest player ever. “Messi has got that god given talent that he’s got. But other people will say Ronaldo has worked for everything he’s got, he’s been phenomenal for so many years, he’s done it in so many different leagues,” he said on Sky Sports. “So if you think Ronaldo is the best player in the world, don’t change your mind because Messi has won the World Cup, it is upto you whatever you believe. Now, Messi is, for me, the best.”
